Baytown Bald Eagles Yes TWO!

Elvis and Priscilla chased off a hawk together then meet on the pirch for vocals. I decided to finally give the Canon 2x II TC a try and WOW it performed many times better than I expected on my Canon 300mm f2.8 Lens.

Baytown Bald Eagles Mothers Day

It was finally great to start seeing more of the chicks today. Elvis was out on the town most of the day, however priscilla kept the photogs on their toes watching her build up the nest and keep the little ones fed.

It was a slow afternoon. Elvis darted from the nest several times and then caught us by suprise and pirched. I was fiddling around viewing the landing and missed the launch. Not the best day, but still got a shot.

Baytown Bald Eagles Elvis Lives!

Baytown Bald Eagles - March 22st
Monday, another day without dissappointment. Priscilla made us all wait for over an hour while she primped on her pirch, and then took flight in the opposite direction back to the next. A few moments later, Elvis (shown here) provided a great show for the photogs during this landing.

Bass Fishing

There nothing like catching a bald eagle with his dinner. Once again we all were treated to a new photo opt.

Yet another cool, but great day in Baytown.

Baytown Bald Eagles March 19 2010

Took a trip down to High Island, TX this morning, and WOW what a great place to see some amazing water fowl. The photos are going to have to wait till tomorrow since the Baytown Eagles once again put on a great show for the new 7D. But stay tuned since the High Island are some of the best I've seen.

Bald Eagle Doubles Today!

IT just keeps getting better! Today about 10 photogs got several shows.

The last show Precilla pirched for almost an hour wearing all of the photog's out, however it was WELL worth the effort because Elvis decided to join her for a double showing!

Amazing 7th day in Baytown!

Baytown Bald Eagles -- Elvis and Priscilla

On Friday March 12th 2010 I drove down to Baytown Texas to look for a Bald Eagle.

A flickr friend posted his photos of the Eagles and I couldn't believe there was a Bald Eagle in Baytown which was only 15 minutes away. So I grabbed my Canon and took off.

Within 10 minutes of arriving, I had shot some of my most prized photos ever of an actual wild Bald Eagle. Before Friday, I had never even seen a bald eagle. I had heard that a few existed in east Texas, however I never paid too much attention. All that changed after seeing this 6 foot bird fly and land within 30 meters of my camera.

I've been back to shoot Elvis and Priscilla (which was named by Harry and the photo gang) daily and eah time I was rewarded with even more photos. Harry's a photog that shoots daily on top of his Chevy. You can't miss him.

I'm planning on making this a daily event for the next two months. If you get a chance, stop by and see the Baytown Bald Eagles before June 2010! You won't be disappointed.

Bring some lawn chairs and show up about 5pm and you will most likely see a show before sunset.

You can find Elvis and Priscilla just on the east side of the Gold Course on Tri City Beach Rd (2354) here:

Baytown Bald Eagle

View on Black

It was a great afternoon. I decided to drive over to see the Baytown Bald Eagle, and I wasn't even sure if the nest was visible without a lens...

Not only was this the first time I ever seen a bald eagle, I was lucky enough to capture a few shots.

Amazing to see these great creatures nesting so close to home in Texas

Here's where you can find the nest if your interested.
